Area Directors Training 2018-2019 (Luzon-Wide)

It was another long drive for me today to get to the Area Directors Training. The venue for the training was at the Bahay ng Alumni in UP Diliman. The training was for Area Directors for all Divisions in Luzon.

Here's the Area Directors Training flyer that was circulated to us in Facebook.

We started off with lunch at around 12 noon in the same training venue. After lunch was an Icebreaker session for Area Directors to somehow get acquainted.

I thought the Icebreaker session was a bit lengthy though. Each person around the room gave a short intro about himself, how he was feeling at the moment (from a list of emoticons), and then give a mini-speech providing the audience "two truths and a lie".

The "two truths and a lie" part was a lot of fun. Unfortunately, it took so much time. Some made it a real guessing game for the audience. By the time everyone was done, a whole hour had passed!

Jun 29, 2018 UPS Club Mentorship Meeting - 6th

It was another fun-filled Toastmasters club meeting today at UPS with the theme "Father's Day". I really tried my best not to be late this time. Yes, I was about 30 minutes early. Some folks there, not members, grumble about my being early for the 6 pm. meeting. Well, better that than late.

Outgoing President Ron Aguila was back from his honeymoon in time for the club elections that was held today. A new Toastmasters year is about to begin on July 1, 2018 and the club needs a new President. A new set of officers was called for and the website's officer list will be updated.

Attending the meeting are shown below (L-R), Anne, Hella, Leah, Myzza, Philip, Mhelody, Jason, Ron, Reya, me, Owen, Jeff and Romer.

Today, we had our First Division Council Meeting over lunch at Shakey's ATC. The Division's Area Directors were also attending the meeting. Since there were plenty of items up in the agenda, Dolly and I started right off with the discussion. We were later joined in by Cassy and Kates. Soon thereafter, the others followed.
Initially at the meeting were: (clockwise from bottom) Raul dela Vega (MSATC), Daniel Gorospe (Microspeak), Jeffrey Ganaba (BFComm), Gelo Reotutar (Fort Bonifacio), me, Dolly delos Reyes (BFComm), Cassy Masilang (Fort Bonifacio), Kates Gapul (Fort Bonifacio) and Anne Macalintal (MSATC).

Jun 8, 2018 UPS Club Mentorship Meeting - 5th

The rainy season has started and it was a wet trip going to the meeting. I didn't expect though the heavy traffic to be all the way there at the venue in UPS.

I'm guessing the opening of classes had something to do with it. I did factor in the music festival at Filinvest, but still, yeah, I was late for 20 minutes. The meeting's theme was "Happy Independence Day".

Attending the meeting were: (L-R) Romer, Raul, Reya, Philip, Owen, Precious, Ron, Mhelody, Jessa, Hella, me, Anne, Leah and Arnold.

Problem with Pathways Certificate of Completion

Earlier I mentioned my Innovative Planning Level 3 Award certificate that had a missing Level 3 icon. I did report this to Education Awards over at Toastmasters International but I have yet to receive a reply - not even an acknowledgement.

Instead, after 3 days, I received a survey questionnaire asking how my question was handled by TI staff! Of course, I rated them poorly as I received no reply at all.

No amount of re-"viewing" the certificate at different times made it appear correct. So yeah, the glitch is still there. Fortunately, I was able to verify through the Educational Achievements (recent) report that, indeed, I was awarded the Innovative Planning Level 3 (IP3) award. The report Educational Achievements below from TI shows just that.

Official in TI Website as UPS Club Mentor

Imagine my delight when finally, my name was reflected as a Club Mentor for the UPS Alabang Toastmasters Club. It hasn't been easy though and it was quite a long wait.

It was announced to the club by one of the original mentors, Anne, that I was officially the new mentor last May 4, 2018. I was to replace an original mentor, Marites. Although my assignment has been relayed to Toastmasters International even before that date, the TI website was still incorrect, reflecting the following:

Awarding of Innovative Planning Level 3 Certificate

Thanks to VPEd Krissy, my Level 3 status has now changed from "Pending Completion Approval" to "Completed". And with the application of the award to Club Central, I'm now able to view the certificate.

The only problem is that there seems to be a bug in the generation of the certificate. The familiar Level 3 circular icon does not appear in the certificate. It's supposed to be displayed at the lower left. What appears is simply an empty box as seen below.

Jun 2, 2018 Toastmasters Meeting - Present a Proposal

Just before the club meeting today was the Officers' meeting. But since Renzo and I were a bit early, we talked about my style of delivering speeches over lunch. My sharing focused on how a prepared speaker may correctly time his speech by using the text of the script as his guide.

For today's meeting, those who attended were: (L-R front) Hans, Loise, Leah, Duchess, Ching, Nath, Dolly, Abby, Krissy, and Russell, (L-R back) Raul, Jeffrey, Ed, me, Mark, Lawrence, Neulfred (guest) and Renzo.

Present a Proposal-Sample Speech IP3, "Keep It Short, Sweetheart!"

This is my 10th speech under Pathways. The speech was delivered at the BF Community Toastmasters Club (BFComm) in the Jun 2, 2018 Toastmasters Meeting at Gather Workspace.
