Sep 28, 2019 Toastmasters Meeting

The sun was up and bright today after a rainy week. I left home early today just so I could arrive in time for the Officers Meeting. The Skyway Extension Project is in full swing and has been causing massive slowing down of traffic.

Attending in today's meeting were (L-R): Sitting: Cristina Yung, me, and Loise Banez. Standing: Ellen de Guzman, Chloe de Guzman, Jude Ola, Belle Villanueva, Marlon Sanchez, Glendy Artes, Alvin Panghulan, Leonzo Escolar, Porsh Maliksi, Carlo Jabat, Marilyn Malinao, and Lorenzo Vergel de Dios.

September Officers Meeting

Another reason I left home early was to have lunch while attending the Officers Meeting at 12 noon. This was at another room in Cassalu. It was nice that Cassalu has started offering a new menu called "Asian Rice Meals". Portions were good, free juice drink, and pricing was easy on the budget.

Duchess came to have lunch there and then go attend the Alabang Community Toastmasters Club meeting where she serves as VP for Education.

After Duchess left, Alvin arrived to attend our meeting. The discussions were on other possible options for venue when we have many attendees, club financial matters, and the upcoming HOT contest.

I later mentioned to the group how the traffic from where I'm coming from has worsened. This may affect my attendance in future meetings especially now that it's the "ber" months.

A Rocky Start

There was a bit of confusion at the beginning because we didn't have a printed program. I actually thought I would be serving as Toastmaster of the Day.

When the program did arrive, it turned out I was the General Evaluator with Jude Ola being the Toastmaster of the Day. Cristina was the Table Topics Master.

In the Prepared Speeches portion, Jude Ola (below-left) started off with an advanced speech from the Better Speaker Series, Beginning Your Speech.

After him was a Researching and Presenting speech project by Glendy Artes (below-center). Finally, an Innovative Planning Level 2 speech project, entitled, "What it Takes to be the HOT" was delivered by Renzo Vergel de Dios (below-right).

The HOT speech gave the audience some ideas about it takes to compete and win the in Rookies Contest billed as "Headliners of Tomorrow or HOT.

Jude's speech had a bit of an audience participation activity as shown below.

Ching's Birthday Celeb over the Break

After the Prepared Speeches, we had the usual break before the Evaluation Portion. Well today, we happened celebrate our Area Director Ching's birthday and so we greeted her.

This was during the break over chicken, corn chips with salsa and beef salpicao. AD Ching was not with us, so instead, we sang for her in the video below. Thank you for treat, AD Ching!

Evaluation Portion

I started the Evaluation portion with the GE opening remarks.

I also got to evaluate Jude's speech. It was Ralph Lim who was supposed to evaluate, but he was not present at the meeting.

Finally, our "Go, BF!" pose.

Here's a scanned image of our meeting program for today.

And that's... a wrap!
