Alabang Community Toastmasters Club Visit - 1st

Today was my first time to visit the Alabang Community Toastmasters Club as part of my duties as Area 73 Director. Finally! I was previously a member of this club and my last meeting with the Alabang Community Toastmasters Club was February in 2017.

Shown below at today's meeting: (L-R): guests Wynie and Mariel, Sherine, Gerry, me, guest Ricky, Lolet and Ella.

Dolly and I were supposed to meet them right after the BF Community Club Success Planning last July 28.

Unfortunately, only VP-Ed Ralp Zuño and VP-Membership Ella Coors made it to the club venue in Crimson Hotel. The three of us (Dolly had to leave) just chatted with no formal club meeting.

When Many Officers are Out

Today I arrived at Cafe Eight in Crimson Hotel just in time for the meeting at 2 pm. and saw early birds Lolet, Sherine, Mariel and Gerry already there. They had two ready speakers today: Ella and Lolet.

I heard that VP-Ed Ralp was still in Singapore. Pres. Neetu was in Bali for honeymoon. VP-Public Relations Tisha was in a training session. Secretary Memem Ilano was in U.K. These were the Alabang Community Club officers that I met at the Club Officers Training 1.

With many of the officers out, I was given a full plate in the club's meeting today. I was General Evaluator, Table Topics Evaluator, Speech Evaluator (for Ella) and Grammarian. Yep, four roles.

In general, I'm okay with two roles. Three roles is a stretch. But with four roles? Well, one of them has to give.

Number of Club Visits

Club Treasurer Lolet kept asking me when I'll be back to visit the club. Most of the members now, even the officers, are new. I guess she's hoping that old-timers, not necessarily club members, visit the club occasionally.

When I asked who was still left in the club using the legacy (traditional) program, she answered Rudy and herself. But Rudy, the previous president, is no longer active and may be leaving for abroad.

Anyway, Area Directors are required to visit Toastmasters clubs in their areas for at least two times IN A YEAR. Some district leaders feel that that may not be enough.

Dolly feels once a quarter will probably be good. But the twice a year visit is TI's minimum requirement.

We shall see.
