Dec 15, 2018 Toastmasters Meeting - Advanced Mentoring pwmentorpgm

It's the Christmas Rush but the heavy traffic especially around Las Piñas City didn't stop us from conducting the regular club meeting - and on time!

Attending the meeting at the Cassalu function room were (L-R): Ching, Mark, Leah, me, Marlon, Hans, Marilyn, Duchess, Nelle and Cristina. Not in the picture is Bea (who was taking the photo).

Usual Traffic Problems in December

Even with just five members initially in attendance, we started the meeting exactly at 2 pm. Late members were mostly stuck in the terrible traffic everywhere.

I remember avoiding Toastmasters meetings in December due to this sole reason - terrible traffic. So today, it was a bit of a challenge to manipulate the program to ensure we didn't waste time by waiting for people to arrive. Marlon, as TOD and shown below, did a fine job managing the program.

Christmas Table Topics

As was expected, Topicsmaster Leah gave an interesting twist to Table Topics. True to the yuletide season, she took lines from the song, "Give Love on Christmas Day". She then gave a question related to those chosen lyrics.

I responded to the question "What gift did you like this Christmas that was not bought from a store?" The question came from the lyrics: "It's that time of year when good friends are near. And you wish you could give more than just presents from a store."

The gift that I mentioned in my response was the nice and yummy Cassava Cake that my daughter Karen brought home. It was given by one of her students in her Math class.

One of Three Prepared Speeches

Today, I delivered the second and last speech to complete my Pathways Mentoring Program. This is the Advanced Mentoring speech. Because the other speakers have not arrived, I was first to deliver a prepared speech.

As my scheduled Evaluator, Duchess, has not yet arrived, Ching just suggested "everybody". But it was Nelle who wrote the evaluation and gave the oral feedback.

(Above) French fries at the meeting to keep the tummy a bit occupied during the break between the Educational and Evaluation portions.

General Evaluator of the Day

I led the Evaluation Portion of the program as General Evaluator. From the photo below, it looks like I'm leading the audience to applaud.

Here's a scanned photo of today's program.

After the meeting - the last for the year, everyone went to the main restaurant for the Club's 2018 Christmas Party.
